I was so happy when Peter and Marta reached out to me to be their elopement photographer for their Catalina Island Elopement. They had a full day elopement in Catalina Island at Two Harbors. We first boarded the ferry in San Pedro and landed in Two Harbors to start the day. There are two main areas of Catalina; Avalon and Two Harbors. I chose Two Harbors for their elopement session because it has so many Hawaii vibes! It’s not instagram or pinterest famous (yet), so it’s not as crowded as Avalon or other national parks like Yosemite, etc so its the perfect place to have an intimate elopement.
Peter and Marta wanted a care-free and fun filled elopement day all to themselves, so after disembarking from the boat, we grabbed some breakfast at the restaurant and headed out to Cat harbor for their ceremony. They chose a rocky beach off the main path for their ceremony. Marta wanted to go barefoot! The bride gets to do whatever she wants to do, so barefoot it was! So many elopement brides love going barefoot!
After the ceremony and creative portrait session around Cat harbor, we headed back to big harbor for lunch. Marta collected shells and we captured some stunning photos of her and Peter along the sand beach while waiting for the food.
After lunch, we took a spin on the kayacks for rent. Marta had this amazing idea of wearing the veil while kayaking, and I wasn’t quite sure how that would look, but those photos ended up being some of my favorites out of the whole session! I love when brides come up with ideas and they end up being the best idea ever!
When I was planning their Catalina Island elopement, I had a vision of doing some underwater photos. I’m PADI scuba certified and have done underwater shoots in the past before. Underwater shoots are so unique and I want to incorporate more of them into my elopement sessions because I live minutes away from the beach! I was so excited becuase Marta was all for getting in the water with one of her dresses! Although, the water in that area was a little too cloudy to make it worthwhile to fully submerge to get good shots, but they are definitely the catalyst for future underwater shoots with brides and grooms!
