Kendra had been following me on social media for over two years before she reached out to me for her Los Angeles beach engagement session! She initially found me in 2020 when I started offering micro wedding packages for couples whose weddings got canceled due to the pandemic. Since then, she’s kept following my work because she loved the idea of eloping, although Kendra and James’ won’t be eloping until 2024 she was extremely eager to do her engagement session.
Los Angeles Beach Engagement Location
We shot on a gorgeous warm summer day in Los Angeles. There are many things I love about Southern California, one of them being the weather! Almost always the sun will be out, especially during the summertime, so it was the perfect time to shoot Kendra and James’ beach engagement session!
One of the best-kept secrets in LA is the beaches and its sea caves! Not every beach in Los Angeles has sea caves but the one I took Kendra and James to did. This beach is extremely breathtaking with massive rocks, birds, and seaweed-covered stones. What’s so great about going to this beach is that you rarely have an issue with finding a beautiful spot to take photos as the lack of parking makes it difficult for it to get overcrowded. But if you go at sunrise or sunset, you will see a lot of photographers, as the geological rock formations here are some of the better ones in Southern California!
Beach Engagement Itinerary
We started Kendra and James’ Los Angeles Beach engagement session off with portraits in the sea caves. Kendra wore a stunning black maxi dress with leg slits and James wore a pair of grey jeans and a t-shirt. When planning out outfits for an engagement shoot I always tell my clients to wear what they feel most comfortable in. Whether that’s casual or fancy, especially for beach sessions either style will work out great! Plus, you’ll almost always want to bring a second outfit to change into, especially if you decide to get into the water, which Kendra and James did!
After taking breathtaking photos up on the beach cliffside during “blue hour” James and Kendra changed into their second outfits. Kendra wore a strapless black dress that was less casual fancier and James wore a pair of jeans and a red button-up, which eventually looked black as they continued to get drenched from the water portraits.
I love when my clients go all-in when taking photos in the water, they always have such a huge smile on their faces when they get hit by waves. Taking Kendra and James Los Angeles beach engagement session photos was so much fun. They were radiating so much energy and enthusiasm for the day and had full trust in me capturing the love they had for one another.
I can’t wait for their elopement in 2024!
