Fall and Winter are my favorite months to plan beach elopements in Malibu, especially in November and December! During these months the sunsets are so clear and oftentimes, more clouds in the sky become illuminated with vivid colors. So when Karina and Santos reached out to me ready to plan a Malibu beach elopement I was ecstatic!
During the Fall and Winter months, there are generally fewer people at the beach which provides more privacy for your elopement which is what Karina and Santos were looking for! Even though the temperatures are warm during the day, it’s not hot enough to attract sunbathers, so even though people might be at the beach, they are not staying there all day which is perfect when planning an intimate elopement or wedding. I always recommend and highly suggest to couples looking to have a beach elopement to elope during the winter months because the weather is typically gorgeous and the sunsets are the best ones throughout the year!
The weather on Karina and Santo’s Malibu beach elopement day was perfect and calm! It was so clear and visible, with no crazy winds or rain, just beautiful clear skies! When you elope outdoors, there’s never a guarantee that it will be perfectly calm but we lucked out and had a gorgeous November day for Karina and Santos’s elopement. Since Karina and Santos were coming from Bakersfield which is pretty far from the ocean they were unquestionably wanting ocean views so I was so glad it was such a clear day for them so they could have the full Malibu beach elopement experience!
Malibu Beach Elopement Itinerary
The unique thing about Karina and Santos’s elopement is that it was only about them and their friends! Usually, when people invite guests to their elopement, it’s out of obligation to have their parents there to witness their ceremony, but Karina and Santos did not have their parents or any immediate family there other than Karina’s son. They incorporated their friends into their ceremony as their wedding party and officiant and stuck to their vision of inviting only 10-15 people. Their vision was to have a stress-free elopement surrounded by their closest friends and they were able to have just that!
Elopement Ceremony
Their ceremony was such a heartfelt one. Karina’s son walked her down the aisle and their friends stood side by side with them tearing up and smiling while they exchanged their vows. After they tied the knot Karina and Santos popped some non-alcoholic champagne to celebrate the rest of their lives together with their friends.
It’s been a while since I’ve photographed bridesmaids and groomsmen so it was a blast! The spirit of the elopement was very cheerful and fun you could feel the excitement of all of Karina and Santo’s friends ready to celebrate them and their special day.
Bridal Party Portraits
Following Karina and Santos’s Malibu beach elopement we took some wedding party photos of the bridesmaids and groomsmen as well as some romantic couple’s portraits during sunset. These photos were by far my favorite of the day! Nothing beats the sunsets here in Malibu during the winter and fall months!
Karina and Santos were wonderful to work with and I loved being a part of and capturing such a momentous day for them! If you’re looking for a Malibu elopement photographer contact me on my website!
