I love when couples decide to have their elopement location in Big Sur as it’s arguably the perfect spot for a Big Sur Adventure Elopement along the California coast especially if you are looking for different sceneries!
Big Sur has many different locations to choose from, from breathtaking ocean views to towering redwoods! There’s so much to see and do, it’s perfect for adventurous couples.
Brooke and Jason reached out to me knowing they wanted to have a Big Sur Adventure elopement the second she filed out my contact form. And guess what?! They only planned their elopement within two months! Elopements can be planned pretty fast when you are confident about the area you want to elope in and since Brooke and Jason have known each other since high school and went to the same college they knew very well what the other wanted and were able to plan very quickly.

Elopement Itinerary
We started the day out with getting ready photos, then the first look with Brooke’s dad, and of course a first look with the bride and groom. First looks are a newer wedding day tradition and it’s not for everyone but it’s one of my favorites! First looks are a private moment for the couple, away from the eyes of family and friends. A moment where they can be fully themselves and not worry about what others are thinking of them if they are balling their eyes out holding each other in their arms.
After the first look, we had their ceremony in the redwood forest grove, which was incredible! Who wouldn’t want to get married surrounded by remarkable trees that stood the test of time! One thing I LOVE about elopements is that couples get the chance to walk around and choose their perfect little elopement spot. With eloping in the great outdoors, there are no altars, chuppas, no stages, or any platforms that thousands of other couples have stood on before. You get to choose your very own unique little corner of the world that nobody else has ever been to before.
During Brooke and Jason’s ceremony while they were exchanging vows they played their favorite music, which was a first for me! I love when couples make their day their own and do things I would have never thought of!
After wedding ceremonies, couples are so much more relaxed for the photos and portraits. You could see that in Brooke in Jason. We roamed around and took photos by the river and around the trees while they smiled and laughed with one another, not having a care in the world. It’s so fun to see the transformation in every bride and groom go from being nervous before the ceremony to embracing the adventurous spirit, climbing up rocks, big logs, and all over the place to get the shot while having fun doing it!
Big Sur Beach Portraits
To end the day we headed to the beach for more photos with their parents. We found the most fascinating cave feature for their first dance which I didn’t even know existed! That’s the beauty of being a little free-spirited on your elopement day – you may surprise yourself and come upon something you’ve never seen before.
Short after beach portraits, Brooke wanted to change out of her wedding dress and have everyone else change into more casual outfits for the remainder of the photos. We went to the rocky cliffsides and took several more family photos as well as Brooke and Jason in their casual outfits.
Capturing Brooke and Jason’s Big Sur elopement was a dream. Everyone was such a delight and seeing their excitement for Big Sur for the first time was amusing. I’m so happy they chose me as their elopement photographer!
