In a world that often gets caught up in the grandeur of big weddings, Ashley and Robert chose to embark on a different kind of adventure – a moody Big Sur elopement adventure that was serene and intimate. For Ashley, who spent her childhood traveling and living in a camper with her family, the campfire smoke, towering trees, and the embrace of nature felt like a return home.
Having been together for a significant amount of time, Ashley and Robert decided to simplify their wedding experience, opting for an elopement that included only the two of them surrounded by the beauty of nature. The day began at their cozy cabin, where I, their Big Sur elopement photographer, captured tender moments of them preparing for the day. The “first look” moment was particularly special, as they laid eyes on each other, dressed up and ready for their momentous day.
Beach Ceremony Photos
The journey continued to Pfeiffer Beach, where the sun bathed the shore, and the waves crashed against the rocks. As the sea breeze tousled our hair, we walked along the beach, reaching a secluded rocky cove where Ashley and Robert would exchange their vows. The ceremony kicked off in a lighthearted manner, with the couple deciding who would speak first through a game of “rock, paper, scissors,” showcasing their playful and good-humored nature.
Against the backdrop of the sparkling water, Ashley and Robert professed their love and exchanged custom rings. Ashley’s unique wedding band is inscribed with “Til Death.” And Robert’s custom necklace with the latitude and longitude coordinates of their Big Sur elopement ceremony location! It’s these personalized details that make each elopement truly special.
Wedding Photos In The Redwoods
After the ceremony, we explored the wonders of Pfeiffer Beach, from its purple sand to the famous keyhole. Returning to their cabin, we ventured into the redwood forest. I captured more moments of the couple in the soft, golden light of the setting sun.
S’mores And A Campfire To End the Night
The day concluded with a scenic drive to Carmel-by-the-Sea, where Ashley and Robert enjoyed a delicious dinner. As night fell, we reconvened outside their cabin. Around a crackling fire, they made their favorite drink – Moscow mules! They cut their elopement cake with a custom cake topper. And finally, indulged in s’mores, and danced under the stars to their favorite song. It was the perfect ending to a day that celebrated love, nature, and the joy of simplicity. Ashley and Robert’s Big Sur elopement was a testament to the idea that love shines brightest when connected with nature.
