Stella and Jason’s Malibu Beach Engagement Session had all the California vibes! They booked with me way back in 2019. Unfortunately, like many others these past few years, their wedding had been rescheduled THREE TIMES due to covid! We are all crossing our fingers that it happens this May!
Both Stella and Jason wanted to wait a few months before their wedding to do an engagement session with me so we booked one for February on a gorgeous day in Malibu! It was as clear as can be and extremely sunny, definitely left with sunkissed skin and the smell of sea-breeze in our hair.
Location
Stella and Jason put their full trust in me when it came to picking the location for their shoot which made me ecstatic! I love it when couples trust me to take them to a location and decide to relax and just have fun with it!
As a Malibu-based elopement photographer I always recommend for couples to go off of my suggestions for locations, days of the month, and time of day for the shoot, since I know my way around and usually have scouted these places beforehand! One of my favorite locations to shoot at is El Matador Beach so I naturally took them there. El Matador Beach is beautiful in every direction with its big magnificent rocks, birds, and rugged cliff edges covered in wildflowers and succulents. It’s the perfect place to get away from the city.
PRO TIP: Always make sure to research when the tide will be low enough to access the beach since El Matador Beach can become very narrow Closter phobic with people during high tide.
El Matador Beach is one of three beaches within Robert H. Meyer Memorial State Beach. El Matador has become very popular over recent years so I recommend going on a weekday in the winter months!
Beach Engagement Portraits
Engagement sessions are a great opportunity for you to get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day. It also helps your photographer figure out good angles and poses that work for you as a couple. Not only that but, engagement sessions preserve and capture an unforgettable time in your life before you tie the knot.
Stella and Jason’s love was so pleasant to capture. The smiling and laughter never stopped! We ran all over the beach and around the rock formations taking photos. I couldn’t help but find myself smiling too while photographing them together. One of my favorite things about photographing couples is that I get to showcase the love you have for one another through this unique stage in your relationship. They are lighthearted photos that you can look back on and cherish forever!
I’m so happy I was able to capture Stella and Jason’s beach engagement session and I can’t wait until these two tie the knot in May and I get to capture their special day!
