Megan and Chris were looking for an adventure elopement wedding photographer and reached out to me for their elopement session and adventure wedding experience. I helped Megan and Chris plan their adventurous helicopter elopement and photographed their elopement session! I’m so excited for them! Like many couples, they did not want to hold off on getting married but also wanted a unique experience to remember their wedding day. It was important to Megan and Chris to have a unique experience, have alone time, and cinematic photos to remember the day! Let it be known that Megan and Chris were a bit nervous to be in a helicopter! Both Megan and Chris admitted they were a little afraid of heights, but the pilot made the whole experience safe and fun for them. Having some bubbly on the flight also helped a little bit too 😉
First, we went to a hilltop to take some scenic photos and then headed to a secluded island beach off the coast of Los Angeles.
Megan and Chris shared their vows and exchanged rings amongst the crashing waves and clear blue sky. Since I’m an ordained officiant, saying their vows in my presence is legal. I signed as their officiant, and the pilot signed as their witness! After their intimate ceremony, they celebrated with a glass of champagne and spent some alone time on the island while the pilot and I landed in a different area.
One of the really neat things about elopements is that it’s possible to spend alone time together as a couple and truly have a “just us” experience. During a traditional wedding, or even a micro wedding, this is not possible because it’s rude to leave guests waiting around. The pilot and I left Megan and Chris alone to have their beach picnic and cake. We came back just before sunset to take some more “golden hour” photos, and then headed back on the return flight. They booked accommodations at a nearby resort and headed off to their private dinner in Chris’s new Viper!
This was such a fun elopement to plan! Megan and Chris trusted my ideas and they had a blast on their wedding day. I’m very much looking forward to helping more couples get married in a fun way during covid!
