Amanda and Nate’s Malibu Cliffside Ocean View session was gorgeous! One of my favorite things about sunset sessions is that you get so many different photos throughout the night since the sky gradually changes while the sun is setting! It creates so many beautiful and interesting colors that you don’t get during the day.
Weather
We were so fortunate to have the clouds out this day, it really added to the beauty! The ocean was like glass and the clouds reminded me of a watercolor painting! Seriously a picture-perfect moment! And don’t get me started on Amanda’s wedding dress from @inesdisanto, it was stunning!
I always recommend to my clients that we stay until the sunsets for any type of session, whether it be an elopement, adventure session, or engagement so that we can capture eye-catching photos that you will cherish indefinitely! Not only do sunsets provide great photos they additionally avoid harsh contrast and maintain tones! Just remember to always time it correctly so you are taking photos during golden hour.
Amanda and Nate’s Malibu cliffside ocean view session was a post-wedding portrait session. The couple wanted photos to commemorate their time in Southern California with a cliffside ocean view before they started their new life in England after their wedding, which they had in Santa Barbara the day before. One of my favorite things about elopements and adventure sessions is that you can do it for multiple days! It doesn’t have to be a one-day thing. Just like Amanda and Nate, they decided directly following their wedding to have a sunset session.
Location
Amanda had shared with me that she envisioned a sunset session at her wedding but unfortunately, the wedding venue didn’t have much of a sunset view. I knew exactly what she meant and I had the perfect setting to make her dreams come true. Point Dume!
Point Dume is the ideal place in southern California for sunset sessions because Point Dume offers headlands, rocky coves, beach access, and most importantly cliffside views. The resulting photos exceed their expectations
Furthermore, a little-known secret is that Point Dume is the best place to whale watch during December to mid-April during the Gray whale’s migration period! Amanda and Nate’s session was in November and we had the most exceptional evening for their session. Days in November can be a mixed bag with weather and overcast, but we got the most stellar sunset anyone could imagine and the temperature was warm and perfect!
Sunset sessions are one of my favorite things, right next to elopements that is! So if you are planning your elopement and looking for a photographer don’t hesitate to contact me! Let’s make your dreams a reality!
